Tuxedomoon, formatisi nel 1977, furono una delle formazioni piu` originali, e meno rock, della new wave, eredi naturali dell'incompresa missione degli United States Of America.
A differenza di New York, la new wave di San Francisco affondava le sue radici nel teatro e nella danza, e i Tuxedomoon furono il gruppo che meglio rappresento` quel background multi-disciplinare. Il loro surreale futurismo, la loro glaciale musica da camera, il loro romanticismo mitteleuropeo ne fecero un caso piu` unico che raro. Coniarono un genere di musica rock che trasferiva l'alienazione al napalm del punk-rock in forme composte degne della musica classica.
